Erik J. Mikkelson, CFP®
Specializing in comprehensive financial planning, wealth management and family office services, my goal is to enhance and protect your assets to meet your specific goals, retirement needs and wealth preservation. A Certified Financial PlannerTM professional, I selected this career to pursue my longtime interest and commitment to helping families with their financial planning needs and concerns. In addition to my financial background, my 12+ years of business experience focused on strategic planning and project management prepared me to work with complex portfolios requiring highly customized investment management strategies, and also to address a variety of other complex financial needs that often arise when clients have accumulated significant wealth. This may include assisting with the valuation, acquisition or sale of a business, complicated gifting or other wealth transfer strategies, as well as other business consultative services including due diligence coordination with legal and taxation professionals. My reputation and values are based on integrity, trust, and a genuine appreciation of people. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics, with a minor in Accounting from St. Olaf College. Prior to founding RMR Wealth Advisors, I was co-founder of Rich Mikkelson Rich Financial Advisors and before that a Vice President at Financial Planning Services, Inc. Outside of work, I am passionate about time with my daughters, family and friends, and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

Why Choose a CFA® Charterholder

Dara Biederman, JD
I am a financial planner and advisor and the Chief Compliance Officer for RMR. After joining RMR in 2005, I obtained the Series 7, 63 and 65 securities licenses and successfully completed the requirements to obtain the Certified Financial Planner™ and the Certified Financial Divorce Practitioner™ designations. I have a particular interest in working with women, especially those facing life transitions such as divorce.
I recently returned to RMR after working for six years at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB), where I managed the agency’s Compliance Division. Prior to working at SWIB and RMR, I worked at a public interest law firm after earning my Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2003. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
When not in the office, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, practicing yoga, and seeing live music.
